Johannes Petrus (John) van de Geer (1926–2008) was a Dutch psychologist, and Emeritus Professor Experimental Psychology at the Leiden University, particularly known for his "Introduction to multivariate analysis for the social sciences".〔G. David Garson (1976) ''Political science methods''. p. 167〕 Van de Geer received his PhD in 1957 at the Leiden University with a thesis entitled "A Psychological Study of Problem Solving" advised by Alfons M.J. Chorus.〔(Johannes Petrus van de Geer ) in Mathematics Genealogy Project〕 Van de Geer was appointed Professor Experimental Psychology at the Leiden University Department of Data Theory in 1961. Among his doctorate students were Willem Levelt (1965), John A. Michon (1967), Willem Albert Wagenaar (1972),〔(Prof.dr. W.A.
